GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) — A shooting incident involving federal immigration agents occurred on Wednesday morning during an enforcement and removal action in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) engaged with a moving white van that allegedly attempted to run them over, prompting the agents to fire their weapons. Authorities reported that one person was struck and another was injured in the altercation; however, both victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to a local hospital.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department received a report of the shooting around 10:50 a.m. According to police, the ICE agents involved were the only law enforcement present during the incident. The van was reportedly moving at a high speed and eventually halted in a wooded area.
Authorities have yet to disclose the identities of the injured parties. The Anne Arundel police confirmed they will lead an investigation into the shooting, while the FBI will look into the alleged assault against the federal agents, and ICE is conducting an internal review of the event.
