Interpolate coordinated a global operation, Operation Jackal IV, that led to 58 arrests across 22 countries and on six continents.

Sixth in the series of Jackal operations, the crackdown targeted leaders behind romance and investment scams, with Interpol identifying 263 additional suspects. The campaign aimed to intervene in the rising threat posed by West African cyber‑crime groups, including the notorious Black Axe network, which allegedly drives a large portion of global financial fraud.

Analysis of intercepted communications revealed that these networks also employ sextortion against minors as young as 14. Their operations span finance, the use of cryptocurrency, email fraud, and real‑world violent crime, including trafficking and murder.

Operation Jackal IV’s reach is exemplified by the South Africa raid where local authorities seized $2.67 million, blocked 257 bank accounts, and made 39 arrests in seven sites tied to the romance‑investment syndicate. The Interpol unit detailed its role in facilitating cross‑border intelligence and providing specialised training for money‑laundering investigations.

While many details remain under investigation, early outcomes already demonstrate the operation’s impact. Interpol’s banner statement declared that the loop‑shaped strategy of following illicit financial flows is crippling the criminal networks’ lifeblood and underscored the power of international cooperation.
