Attorney Mark Geragos is once again facing serious allegations, this time from famed jewelry designer Pamela Love. On Monday, Love filed a $7 million lawsuit against Geragos and Lyndon Lee in the Supreme Court of New York, accusing them of fraud and conspiracy regarding outstanding payments owed to her.
The lawsuit emerges following a partial victory for Love in December 2022 when she received a final partial and interim award concerning payments from the owners of the jewelry brand Alex and Ani. Despite this award, Love contends she has yet to receive the full amount due, and has implicated Geragos in a scheme to defraud her.
“The transfer was from insider to insider,” the legal complaint alleges. It details how Geragos purportedly orchestrated a strict foreclosure on Alex and Ani's assets around July 24, 2024, which the lawsuit describes as a “sham to defraud creditors.” It further claims that this action was primarily for show, as business operations remained unaffected with employees being laid off and then rehired almost immediately.
Geragos, who has built a reputation as a “celebrity attorney,” has had his share of controversies in recent years. He was implicated in the notorious 2019 Nike extortion case alongside his now-incarcerated colleague Michael Avenatti. Just a year later, he and law firm partner Ben Meiseles faced legal action in Arizona due to allegations of ethical violations. The case led to a ruling from Chief U.S. District Judge Snow, mandating that Geragos disclose these ethics violations when seeking to practice law in Arizona again.
Compounding his legal challenges, Geragos was investigated in 2022 by the State Bar of California for alleged misconduct regarding funds meant for Armenian genocide victims. Additionally, his daughter, Teny Geragos, has come under scrutiny amid speculations of discord within Sean "Diddy" Combs's legal team, following the resignation of another attorney, Anthony Ricco. Critics have suggested the Geragos duo could be involved in internal conflicts linked to ongoing allegations.
As this new case develops, Mark Geragos finds himself navigating yet another storm, raising questions about his career and ethical practices in the legal arena. The outcome of the lawsuit and its investigation into his conduct could have significant implications for his legal future.
