Motown superstar Smokey Robinson is currently under criminal investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in light of recent sexual assault accusations. Authorities confirmed that their inquiry into the allegations is in the preliminary stages, following a lawsuit filed on May 6 by four anonymous housekeepers. The plaintiffs have accused the 85-year-old singer-songwriter of sexual battery, false imprisonment, negligence, and gender violence.
In response to these accusations, Robinson has categorically denied any wrongdoing. His attorney, Christopher Frost, suggested that the allegations are motivated by financial gain, asserting, "We feel confident that a determination will be made that Mr. Robinson did nothing wrong." Frost welcomed the police investigation, stating that revealing the truth would undermine the claims made against his client. He characterized the lawsuits as a desperate attempt to manipulate public perception and drag the plaintiffs’ name into the media spotlight.
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department's Special Victims Bureau has taken the lead in investigating the incident.
