As the year comes to a close and daylight dwindles, I find myself reflecting on my journey as a cosmic affairs correspondent for The New York Times, a role I have fulfilled for the past 25 years. I studied the legacy of Albert Einstein in cities across the globe, and I found moments of reflection and sorrow as I retraced steps around the ruins of the World Trade Center following the tragic events of September 11.
As I transition towards retirement, I will have to part with that business card, but my pursuit of cosmic knowledge remains unaltered. I plan to continue contributing to The Times and dedicate my time to writing a book that intertwines personal stories with the mysteries of the cosmos.
