Kyiv Under Siege: Renewed Russian Drone Assault Injures 10
Ukraine's capital is facing an unprecedented wave of drone attacks, prompting urgent warnings from officials.
In a night of terror, Kyiv endured a colossal Russian drone offensive, with at least 10 reported injuries and widespread devastation across several districts. Local officials indicated that debris from drones has impacted a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi area, with video footage circulating online portraying the chaos of the nighttime assault. Ukraine's air defense forces engaged in countermeasures as threats of both drones and ballistic missiles loomed.
This latest attack follows a historic escalation, as just a night prior, Ukraine faced its most substantial aerial strike from Russia, involving a staggering 728 drones and 13 cruise or ballistic missiles launched in coordinated waves targeting various cities nationwide.
In the early hours of Thursday, local military authorities confirmed strikes across six districts of Kyiv, reporting heavy damage to residential properties, vehicles, and various buildings. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the capital’s military administration, emphasized the necessity for residents to seek shelter and remain vigilant during air raid alarms.
Additionally, the Ukrainian air force has issued warnings regarding further drone threats in multiple regions of the country. As of now, information on casualties outside of Kyiv remains unverified.
Russia's military has yet to respond to these ongoing claims. Meanwhile, Ukraine's emergency services reported earlier in the day that three individuals lost their lives during a Russian air strike in Kostiantynivka, a town situated near the front lines in eastern Ukraine.
In a related development, the United States has resumed the supply of certain weapons to Ukraine after a temporary suspension of critical arms shipments. Since February 2022, when Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the conflict has seen significant military developments and strategic stalemates across multiple fronts.
