British Man Charged in Disturbing Disneyland Mock Wedding Scandal Involving Child
Jacky Jhaj, a convicted paedophile, arrested for orchestrating a fake wedding with a nine-year-old girl at Disneyland Paris, faces serious legal repercussions.
Jacky Jhaj, a 39-year-old British man previously convicted of sexual activity with minors, has been charged with organizing a controversial “mock wedding” involving a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl set to take place at Disneyland Paris. The incident, which created a media stir, occurred on a Saturday morning when Jhaj was apprehended by authorities after an actor, hired to play the child's father, alerted the police.
Jhaj, who has been on the sex offenders register since 2016, has a troubling history that includes a conviction for sexual offenses against two 15-year-olds. Recent reports by the BBC highlighted Jhaj’s ability to hire numerous children, some as young as six, to act in productions, including a fake film premiere in London where he was unaware of the true nature of his identity.
In connection with the Disneyland incident, it was reported that Jhaj managed to recruit around 100 French extras to participate in the staged wedding. Following his arrest, he appeared before a judge in Meaux, northeast of Paris, facing serious charges, including fraud and identity theft. Notably, preliminary findings revealed that Jhaj had undergone professional makeup to disguise his appearance.
The BBC also shed light on past instances involving Jhaj, including incidents where he was recognized soliciting gifts for children outside dance auditions and filming naked in front of a faux BBC News lorry. Despite his previous convictions and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order limiting his activities, Jhaj continued to engage children in various productions, some of which were uploaded to YouTube, gathering millions of views before they were eventually flagged and removed.
Authorities discovered that Jhaj perpetrated the Disneyland event through deceptive means, utilizing a fake Latvian ID to secure the venue while claiming that the girl had not been coerced into participating and had arrived in France just days before the event. The costs incurred for these elaborate productions, including the Disneyland mock wedding, were staggering, with estimates suggesting over €130,000 had been spent.
The UK's Metropolitan Police are currently in communication with French authorities regarding Jhaj, emphasizing his breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ongoing investigations into his activities. As the legal proceedings unfold, this case highlights concerning gaps in protections for children and the troubling manipulations of individuals with criminal backgrounds.
