Arrest of Marius Borg Høiby, Son of Norwegian Princess, Sparks Outrage Over Allegations
27-year-old Marius Borg Høiby, stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, faces multiple serious allegations, including rape and violence, leading to police intervention and ongoing investigations.
Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been taken into custody by police in Oslo following serious charges linked to multiple alleged offenses, including rape. Norwegian authorities reported that Høiby is being held on suspicion of sexual intercourse with a person who is incapacitated and unable to resist.
While Høiby, who holds no royal title or official responsibilities, reportedly denied the allegations, he faces several charges related to incidents involving four other victims. Specifically, police indicated that one allegation pertains to a sexual act that did not involve intercourse, emphasizing that the victim purportedly could not resist.
Following his arrest on Monday night at approximately 23:12 local time, Høiby was found in a vehicle with a victim associated with an earlier incident. The previous case, which occurred on August 4, involves accusations of violence and property damage. Authorities have since broadened the scope of charges against him to include "maltreatment" in intimate relationships and breaches of a restraining order linked to the same victim.
Høiby has also come under scrutiny for driving without a valid license, and his residence near the royal family’s official residence at Skaugum has been subjected to a police search. The accusations against him include previous charges of abuse directed at former girlfriends, Julianne Snekkestad and Nora Haukland, along with threats made towards a male individual.
Despite the gravity of the circumstances, the Norwegian royal palace has opted not to comment on Høiby’s latest legal troubles, leaving the public and media to speculate on the potential ramifications within the royal household.
